The reform movement in Malaysia
Desember 2007
The reform movement in Malaysia was launched by Anwar Ibrahim and his supporters after he was removed from his position as Deputy Prime Minister in 1998. This movement includes a massive demonstration against the National Front coalition government, which continued until Anwar was arrested and imprisoned in 1998.
Target campaign reform was the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is seen as a corrupt leader and has been in office too long.
As a result of the reform movement finally felt in the election of 2008, when the People's Justice Party (PKR) leader Anwar Ibrahim won 31 parliamentary seats, and together with Malaysia Islamic Party (PAS) and the Democratic Action Party (DAP) broke a two-thirds majority of the Barisan National Parliament.
